Case Study

PSI Legacy Food
Client Background
PSI Legacy Food is the company behind Day of the Dead Food Products — chef-crafted hot sauces, spice blends, honey & dressings, and oils & spreads, rooted in the traditions of Día de los Muertos. Beyond the shop, the brand shares a growing library of chef-developed recipes, offers catering, and posts news and event updates. The website is where customers learn the story, find recipes, and head to the online store.
Challenges
- The site was built on the Avada theme and Fusion Builder, so pages and recipes were stored as builder shortcodes that show up as raw text the moment the builder is switched off.
- Leftover Avada post-template markup was leaking into dozens of recipe posts, making them look broken on a modern theme.
- Key pages — Team, Catering, Contact and Products — had inconsistent layouts and did not sit full width or centered once moved to the new block theme.
- The recipe library and the News & Events page had to be updated by hand every time something new was published.
- Recipes had no consistent structure and no easy way to print for use in the kitchen.
- The shop pulled in products from a separate store, and some category sections were not reliably showing products.
Our Solution
We moved the site off Avada and rebuilt the pages, recipes and shop sections on a clean block theme:
Migration & Design System
- Moved the site from Avada to the Twenty Twenty-Four block theme without losing content.
- Redesigned the Team, Catering, Contact, Blog, Recipes and Products pages as full-width sections in one burgundy and gold design system.
- Built a full-bleed layout technique so sections span the screen even inside the theme’s fixed content width.
Dynamic Content
- Rebuilt the Recipes archive and the News & Events page to pull posts live from WordPress, so new content appears automatically.
- Added shop-by-category sections that connect the site to the online store.
- Connected the Contact and Team pages to Gravity Forms.
Recipes & Usability
- Rebuilt 50+ recipe posts in clean, consistent markup — photo, yield, time, ingredients and method — so Avada can be switched off.
- Added a Print Recipe button to each recipe for use in the kitchen.
- Audited the site for leftover Avada shortcodes and fixed layouts page by page.
